Onboarding
Teacher Account Setup and Profile Management Guide
Lessons details, Calendar, how to join the lesson and stay tuned
Scheduling a Lesson
Welcome to EnglishWays! After completing the initial steps from the onboarding email—signing in, setting up your profile picture and bio, and syncing your Google account (calendar sync link)—you’re ready to start teaching.
Class Notifications When a new class is booked, you’ll receive an email notification along with a Google Calendar invitation. After seeing this email, log in to the EnglishWays panel to review class details on the platform itself, rather than relying on the email.
Preparing for Your Class
- Review Student Information: Before the session, check the student’s form to understand their age, English level, and any specific notes or preferences.
- Confirm Meeting Platform: Verify if the student prefers to meet via Google Meet or WhatsApp.
Conducting the Class
- Check Your Setup: Test your microphone and camera in advance. Dress professionally and be punctual.
- Be Clear and Engaging: With students who have lower English proficiency, clarity is key. Use simple, clear language, speak slowly, and check for understanding. Visual aids and breaking down concepts into single words or phrases can help bridge the language gap.
Free Trial Classes
During a free trial:
- Introduce Yourself: Start by building rapport—learn about the student and briefly assess their English level.
- Deliver Value: Ensure the student gains something meaningful from the trial.
- Suggest what they might focus on in the next class, leaving a clear impression of the benefits of continuing with you
- Send a summarize to EnglishWays Skype.
Regular Classes
For ongoing lessons:
- Prepare Materials: Use quality materials tailored to the student’s level. You can find the recommended book here: Complete English All-in-One for ESL Learners.
